They call it pigskin, we call it beef’ing up the game!
Football season has arrived yet again and we are all very excited here at Oregon Beef Council. This means tailgate parties, cheering on our favorite teams, such as the OSU Beavers, and trying out new finger foods. Every year we look for better and beefier game day bites to try and share with you. This year we have a whole collection of them! Beef and football, surely it’s love.
Our Pinterst has a board called Game Time and it’s a collection of all the great beefy crowd pleasers we love to serve. Check them out, we know you’ll find a touchdown or two of your own.
Jalapeno Popper Football Cheese Ball looks fun (and yummy), so for all of you looking for something fun and creative, give this a try! We understand this doesn’t include beef in the ingredients, but we’re here to enjoy our food and share all the goodness. Plus, you can’t go wrong with cheese, more cheese and bacon!
Another new favorite we’re really in love with is Cheeseburger Tater Tot Cups. They were great and crispy on the edges baked in the oven. We’re going to try on the BBQ next and see if they turn out as good or better. Homemade pink sauce and lat year’s canned habenero pickles topped these delectable bites so well. What will you put on yours? Ketchup and mustard? Caramelized onions and bacon? The toppings are just about endless. Anything you put on a burger you could potentially put on these.
Meat on a stick seems to be a little primitive for a cocktail party, but perfect for watching the game. Balsamic Vinegar marinades and tenderizes the meat, and honey with chili flakes adds a caramelized heat that can’t be beat. These are another great option for on the grill or to make ahead of time. We’ve also found this to be a delicious option for dinner served with roasted yellow potatoes or tossed into a beautiful steak salad.
